Degree Requirements

Below are examples of possible student pathways in the Portuguese Flagship Program. Please note, each student's study plan will be defined on a case-by-case basis. Only students with at least an advanced-low proficiency in Portuguese will be eligible for the capstone experience in Brazil.

Sophomore/Junior students (Summer): Students will be encouraged to apply for the Salvador Summer Program in Brazil (PORT 497).

Sophomore students will engage in a variety of immersion activities to attain the necessary proficiency level (extra hours with the tutors, etc). Again, only students with at least an advanced-low proficiency in Portuguese will be eligible for the capstone experience in Brazil. If necessary, non-Spanish speaker sophomore students will postpone their travel to Brazil by one year.
