A Journey with the Brazilian Poet Narlan Teixeira
Narlan Matos
Dr. Narlan Matos is a poet known for addressing profound social and artistic issues. At 21, he published his first poetry book, Ladies and Gentlemen: the Dawn!, which won the Jorge Amado Foundation Award in 1997. His second book, In the Campsite of the Shades, earned him the XEROX Award for Brazilian Literature in 2000. In 2002, he was invited by the U.S. State Department to participate in the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. His third book, Elegy to the New World, has been translated into multiple languages and was selected as one of the best poetry books of 2012, also receiving a nomination for the Portugal/Telecom International Award.
